Selection Procedure


  • Best paper nominations were solicited. Also, a Pubmed search was conducted for biological modeling papers relevant to toxicology. This yielded 684 papers.
  • After combining the nominated papers with the PubMed search results and filtering for authors who are BMSS members, we ended up with a list of 51 papers.
  • The executive committee of BMSS then reviewed the list and selected papers to become semifinalists. The consensus list of semifinalists comprised 5 papers. This procedure was conducted via a shared spreadsheet on google docs and a copy is here.
  • The entire group of BMSS officers then ranked these papers from best to worst.
  • From these results, ranked choice voting was used to identify the winner and runners up.
